Being successful can be defined as accomplishing the things you set out to do. Each person’s milestones and criteria for success are different.
Cindy started her business more than 30 years ago and has been helping others reach success ever since. She founded Global Business Coaches with her husband, Dan, to help people all over the world reach personal and financial success, too.
She is one of the most successful business women in Sarasota, Florida, and an icon of entrepreneurship.
Here are her Top Five Tips for success:
1. Follow Your Dreams
One of my favorite quotes about life is “If you find a job you love, you will never work a day in your life.” It is so true.
According to Sir Richard Branson, “If you are going to create a business, make sure it is your hobby, your passion or something that you really enjoy.”
If you do that and pursue what you love, you will live a much better life that way. Don’t just set out to do something for the sake of making money.
Lots of people have tons of amazing ideas. However, the truth is that very few people actually go out and try to put them into practice.
2. Be Positive
Having an optimistic outlook has gotten me through life’s most challenging situations. Life is too short to complain and whine about “what could have been” or who “should have” done what.
3. Have Fun and Look After Your Team
I 100% believe that it is important to have fun. If you’re not having fun, it might be time to take a look at why. As a leader, you should have fun from the top down and create the kind of environment that’s pleasant to work in.
People are a lot like flowers. If a flower is watered and gets sunlight, it blossoms. Without water and sunlight, it dries up. The same applies to people.
4. Spend Time With Your Family And Learn To Delegate
One of the early things you have to do as an entrepreneur is learn the art of delegation. Find people who are better than you to run the day-to-day things and technical tasks you aren’t as skilled at. This will free you up to think about the bigger picture and spend time with your family. You don’t want to wake up one day down the road to realize you’ve alienated those closest to you in pursuit of your business ventures.
That’s very important, especially if you’ve got children, they count on you to guide them and teach them. They are what’s going to be left in the world when you’re gone.
I know I’m a good entrepreneur, but I’m not sure that I’d be a very good manager. There is a difference. My mind is always thinking ahead and wanting to create new things.
Consider this, once you have set something up, it’s better if someone else runs it. You can pop in to be a bother occasionally, but the day-to-day business is better for somebody else to do.
5. Don’t Worry About What Other People Think
When other people say bad things about you, something I learned to do is to simply prove them wrong. There are people who hang onto the coat tails of successful people and try to sell a few books or gain success using someone else’s name. When others are negative, sometimes it gives their negative opinions more attention when we attempt to address it. So I’ve had to learn the art of ignoring people like that. If a tree falls down in the woods and no one is there to hear it…
I think the best thing to do is just to prove them wrong in every single way. Remember, eagles do not fly with pigeons.
Enjoyed reading this. 🙂
